about

Now I Can Tell follows on from Sister, and is inspired by and named after the work of Lynne Alexander, who I discovered by reading Malcolm McIllmurray's book 'Anne, Faith And Hope'.

Anne was a patient in the hospice set up by Sister Aine Cox MBE and was profoundly moved and transformed by her experience and friendship with Sister Aine, being able to come to terms with and make sense of the difficult hand dealt with her as she neared the end of her life.

During Anne's time as a patient at St John's Hospice, Lynne Alexander was a writer in residence as part of a scheme where she 'worked with patients, carers and staff to produce personal reflections', which she published into a book with this title.

It's not easy to summarise, but I found the weaving paths of these three women and their individual journeys and experience and how they came together in this place really moving. I wanted to write this piece that is ultimately short, sad and melancholy but comes together into a cathartic, powerful ending to represent Anne's journey through life.
