Home is inspired by a poem of the same name by Charles Swain, found in a book called 'Ballads and Songs of Lancashire' by John Harland and T.T Wilkinson, which I discovered in Lancaster Library whilst researching my commission in 2022.

The idea of the poem is that Home isn't just a place (bricks etc) but the person or people there, and it conjured up the idea of when you get home late and someone has left a light on for you.

The melody and chords to this song leapt out as I sat at the piano after this research trip and read through the words, and I hope to record a version of this with vocals soon!
